Repartition Hard Drive?

hey, i need to repartition my hard drive so i can decrease the size of my windows partition and open up some space for linux. however, i cant find a program to do this. i tried partitionMagic but the trial version wont actually do, well, anything. and i dont feel like paying the 50 bucks for it. i also tried partitionExpert but it cant repartition ntfs partitions.

is there a free program that can do this? or during the kubuntu install, is there an option to shrink existing partitions?

If you have Windows XP: Right click on my computer, and go to manage. Near the bottom select Disk Management. This should show your hard drives and their partitions, along with free and unused space. Right click on the partition you want to resize and select the resize option (or something like that, I dont have an XP box in front of my to test with). Then just resize the partition. Make sure you are only resizing the unused space.

Partition Magic works great for resizing partitions, check that out. Or, if you know what you are doing, pop in a linux bootable cd and use fdisk. I use windows disk management when im in windows xp. Ive had no problems and it is pretty damn straightforward.

A Lot of linux distros nowadays can do this for you as part of their installation, depending on their installer.

most distros let you partition during install. if you want to partition before you install, run a live cd like PCLinuxOS or something and run gparted or qparted and it will take care of the rest
