Does T43 type 2668 support dual channel operation?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

In preparation for life with my new T43, I want to order some extra memory. however, I'm confused as to whether the T43 supports dual channel operation? I spoke to a rep from Crucial who clamed that it does not; However, The Laptop Logic review states that it does:

I was thinking of just maxing out the free memory slot with a 1GB sim from crucial; However if I understand correctly, this is not a good idea if the machine is dual channel, since the sims will then not be paired and memory performance will take a major hit.
Assuming the machine does support dual channel, if I just buy another 512MB sim from crucial, will I get dual channel performance or does the memory need to be from the same manufacturer?

TIA for any clarification on this,

FYI

I just rec'd my 1 gig chip from Crucial today and installed it in my T43 (model 2668) and now have 1.5 gig total memory and everything seems to be working fine. The memory cost me $ 149 - much cheaper than IBM. I simply ordered the SIMM that Crucial's memory configurator suggested.

Crucial are guaranteed compatible with the system they have configured in their system. I even bought 2 gig's, which are on backorder.

they don't have to made by same manufacturer but both must be 533mhz.

The T42's and T43's do not support dual-channel.

depends on what motherboard it use. 915PM, 915GM or something. If your laptop has independ display card, that means it also support dual channel

if it is using "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900" means it doesn't support dual channel. If it is using ATI X300 or ATI V3200 means it can support dual channel. Please correct me if i am worng. Because there are three different kind of mother board.
