Just let you know they are now available. Not what I'd call high end gaming but still worth looking into for anyone looking for good value. The HP/Compaq nx6125 should be available soon aswell.

oh man its got a horrible screen and only the ati express 200 video... thats pretty nasty
post #3 of 20
Wow, those are pretty nice budget notebooks.
Good budget notebooks but why such crappy screens? I thought all 15inch 4:3 screens were at least SXGA by now... Those screens are totally 4 years ago.

I think they are still testing the waters with their new notebooks. New options will be available soon.

If you want easy to read resolutioin then XGA is perfect. But HP also offers the nx6125 (Business version of the new Turion 64 notebooks) with WVA SXGA resolution. http://h41166.www4.hp.com/catalogue/...ops/#p_PY416ET Anyway in such case the nx6125 is the first notebook I have seen with WVA SXGA (1280 X 1024) resolution wich I think is the perfect resolution for a 15" screen. It fully support common widescreen format 1280 X 800 while having a native resolution supported by almost any game ( Compared to SXGA+ 1400 X 1050 wich is almost never supported ). If it only would have 128MB dedicated Xpress200M, or X300 atleast!
what is WVA? How does it support both widescreen and a normal resolution? ?????

What I meant to say is a 1280 X 1024 (SXGA) screen can support the 1280 X 800 (WXGA) resolution in native mode. That's all. WVA = Wide Viewing Angles, something that is very important for 4:3 aspect LCDs.

super chhe

again, HP fails to capture part of the notebook market by keeping the Xpress 200M AND making the screen XGA only...big stinkin deal.

I have the amd 4000+ with xpress radeon 200m and it is no slouch .Depends on how you configure your card.it is not among the x800 6800go league but is a decent performer and you cant go wrong with it for some years now when the new tech comes. And dont forget the price factor aND it also has directx 9 capability.

devarshi84:
How does it perform in graphics intensive games like Doom3 (openGL) or Everquest (dx9)?
I played NFS underground and far cry on highest details with all settings at high and had no problems.YEt to start the other 128mb from the ram and yet to install the latest ati drivers. Not played doom3 or everquest though but I liked what I saw in NFS and farcry.I tell you again you wont go wrong with it.

radeon xpress 200m is not a integrated GPU .It is a dedicated GPu.What ati told me is that the xpress 200m chipset is not weak at all but can be upgraded with tweaks.Somebody also mentioned that it can be upgraded with a more powerful gpu(search the forums)

I think that you own R400 with XPRESS 200M with Hypermemory that is the dedicated 128mb of memory video and that is the reason why you can play games quite nice, because the standard XPRESS 200m with shared memory (that also is available for R4000) would perform much worse. And far most of the laptops that come with XPRESS 200M are the ones without Hypermemory...
the 200m is not weak but not powerful too. Its a better solution for the notebook.

I dont have R400 I have R4000 the amd notebook

It plays games satisfactorily. Not yet started the hypermemory but its worth it

You mean you don't own the R4000 with Hypermemory?

the x200 SUCKS its almost as bad as intel extreme graphics, there was another thread about how crappy they were
post #18 of 20
The radeon xpress 200m is comes with hypermemory and is not an option.

first the card is not x300 . Its "loosely" based on x300. BUt it is not weak at all. IT is satisfactory for todays games and with updated drivers may play future games at medium settings.

Nope, the 200m is way better than the POS IE2. It(the integrated version of the 200m) is even better than the GMA900. The 200m moreover has dedicated memory, so it 's not as bad as it is made out to be. It is roughly 2/3 of the performance of the X300!
The 200m is "loosely" based on x300 and not a weaker x300.If that would have been the case they could have called it x200. Its different than x300.

Secondly it is not integrated solution but a dedicated solution with dedicated memory support.
