Asus Bios updates for Turion?

Has anyone heard anything about this. I would guess it is unlikely to happen as the industry doesnt seem to want anyone to buy an AMD laptop with decent video.

There is a good option: Just forget about Asus and get a Ferrari 4005wlmi. Turion 64, X700, 1024MB, 100GB, WSXGA+, XP Pro ~$2000. Closest would be the ASUS Z81K expet for CPU. Why not try configure one with the same options, I bet it's not that much cheaper with XP Pro, bluetooth etc installed!

Well the main reason I was looking for that option is because I refuse to spend 2000$ on a laptop. I build all of my machines from the ground up because it is vastly cheaper. I wanted to build a laptop not as a power gaming machine but as a machine that I could game on if I wanted but nothing super high end. Basically I dont want to spend over 1200$

I could easily built out a z80k of z81k if I wanted to for under 1200$ with a gig of ram. But I was kinda hoping they would update the bios so I could toss a turion in there to get better battery life as well as cool the unit down.

Bottom line is im in the US so 90% of the Acer units are not available and im not gonna waiste my money on some over priced Ferrari. So that pretty much leaves the ASUS and Uniwill barebones for AMD in the US.

Actually notebooks are becoming the same as desktops. Show me a place that charges less then Newegg for a hard drive ,RAM, or CPU.
