My hp zd8000 has three fans, middle fan is never on, side two go on after awhile and during intensive things.

Problem? I think so, I'd like someone to verify.

Thanks!

I have a zd8110 and the middle fan seldomly comes on with mine. I'm using an Antec cooler with mine right now... this is one little toasty laptop.

Are you saying that the middle fan would come on after the side two fans?

Because the side two fans are often on.

My two side ones are always on. I remember hearing the 3rd one come once or twice. You definitely know when all 3 are on.

How hot does your wrist rest get?

hot/warm, I use a USB mouse and don't usually rest my wrist there or think of how hot it is, so I can't totally remember, but it's definitely the hottest spot of the laptop when I have checked. So maybe it's ok. I just was wondering because I haven't had the middle one come on, and am wondering if something is wrong and it'll wreck something.

Does yours get pretty hot?

It's usually pretty warm to the right of the keypad. It's also pretty toasty right at the base of the screen also. I also use a USB mouse, but this is definitely the warmest laptop I've ever owned.

Yeah, definitely. I upgraded the BIOS to F.32, and while it was upgrading, the middle fan turned on, so I know that it's functioning correctly!

Thanks for your time!

Will try upgrading and see what happens.

Ok samething happened to me, during upgrade the middle fan turned out and the noise level increased.
After the reboot i think the middle fan isnt on anymore. I am guessing it kicks in if the laptop hits a certain temp?
