Since the avermedia one I wanted is gone from the newegg site, I have to rethink which tv tuner I want.

I want a tv tuner that will record shows on a schedule to my hdd.

These are the three that I am looking at(other reccommendations welcome)

Are these even good or compatable with the 9300?

BTW, I am recording from a cable box.

The thing that I really care about is the recording and quality.

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB 2.0

I'm currently using the one above on my laptop and it's pretty good.

I gotta keep the price below $75 and I can only purchase off of the newegg or dell site.

Are either of the first or second fine for scheduled recording onto my hdd at high quality? Which one should I get?

From a brief overview, the Compro looks like a good choice based on imput methods.

The compro looks good

Im thinking about getting this one. The only thing that bothers me is: is what resolution can i record from my cable box with this thing and 2. is it a POS or not

Also, since Im a newb with these things, should I use the white, red, and yellow cable set to record? (Thats whats on my cable box) The compro doesnt seem to have these connectors...

Your cable box doesn't have a TV connector? (it looks like the cable hookup)

The third one is to turn a VGA monitor into a TV. The other two require a lot of resources to record. You might consider one that encodes the video externally.

those tend to cost more, and he's on a budget.

Resources, as in processor power needed for encoding.
Quote:
800 MHz CPU for TV viewing and VCD recording
2.4 GHz CPU for DVD-quality recording
Unless you have nothing else running when you record, you'll likely get dropped frames.
