getting back to the reason for this thread....

would a 3.2 ghz processor (in the new 4780) be worth the extra money? Is the speed increase extremely noticable between the 2.8 and the 3.2 chips??

Thanks,

theres alot of threads on this, if you get the 3.2 it would help you out a little bit in some games and perhaps video editing and whatnot but it also matters how much memory you get (which is sweet since the 4780 will be offering space for 2 gigs)

well the sweet spot is obviously 3.0 I'd go with that perfomance differnce between that and 3.2 is minimal, but there is a decent performance differnece between 2.8 and 3.2...but I guess it works the other way also, as the differnce between 2.8 and 3.0 is minimal. So what I'm trying to say minimal + minimal = decent bit

Singal vs. dual

I might be walking the same ground as previous posts but this was an issue I was concerned with. A "techy" friend looked into it and said that the average increase in speed between single to dual is about 5%. I know I'll never notice !
Adam, if your watching, give us an update!

Ya hypersonic is already selling the new 4780 with a 5 week turnaround time. so it's likely that it is only a matter of a week or so before the 4080 and 4780 begin being sold by PCTorque.

I can't belive the 4780 doesn't have integrated wirelessG.
Damn... if it wasn't for the hp zd7000 having the Fxgo5650, and the radeon 9600pro I would have so picked that up...

I went to best buy today and looked at the HP 17" and I was very impressed with the screen!!!! more impressed with that screen than the higher res ones also... but that's the only thing I was impressed with on that HP.

The two sales people I talked to flat out said I was full of sh!t when I told them about the 4780. The HP has a 4500RPM drive and they said that's the fastest laptop Harddrive anywhere and said I was lying that the 4780 can have a 7200RPM.

They also said I was lying when I told them about the 800MHz FSB. "No laptops can have that and if they did I'm sure the major brands would have them before some garage company like your talking about"

They laughed when I said it had a better video card than the NVideo Go440 that the HP has. Geez where do they find these people.

Can't wait to get the 4780 and go to best buy to buy some cool stuff for my "Make Believe" laptop.

Buy the way the 1440x900 screen is ridiculously nice. don't let others tell you it isn't high enough res cause it looked DAMN good.

ZD7000 is available with 5400rpm HD and wireless *G* Lan - and perhaps soon with 3.2 800FSB.

What about fans? Does ZD have any fans at the bottom?

Too bad it doesn't have the Radeon. Sager is going to be the better value.

is that ever not the case?

Actually the Hp's are better than the sagers. That price includes windows Xp os, where is the sagers probably do NOT.

THe HP zd7000 looks very good, however, I want a radeon 9600pro not the crappy fxgo ****. WHich is the only reason I'm holding out.

Alos anyone notice that the zd7000, the 2.8ghz DO NOT HAVE HT? are they on a 533 bus?

I agree.. I'm used to looking at 600x800 res on my ghetto old laptop so 1400x900 is by far enough res for me!

I really can't decide between 4780 and ZD7000. Wish i could take a ZD with ATI 9600

BTW: 3dmark01 and 03 benchies are a little bit lower on 4780 as on 5680 out of the box. But the real world gaming performance with ATI must be much higher (HP ZD7000 can reach 12k on 3dmark01)

are you only considering gaming when you say you'd rather have a ZD7000 than the 4780?
