Of course not! I want a desktop replacement with 17" widescreen. I like to play Battlefield and some upcoming games on LAN-Parties.
The 17" widescreen would satisfy my needs perfect (IMHO very impressive LCD - have seen it at a Toshiba and a Apple Notebook).
Overall i would prefer the ZD - but i owned a Toshiba Laptop with 5600go a few weeks ago and this unit was not able to play Battlefield smooth.
HP's pros: keyboard and design
HP's cons: since i live in Europe the HP will only be available with two preconfigured Systems - both only with 64MB Geforce and only with 4200 rpm HD

ya taking into consideration though I think sager provides more bang for the buck.. the ZD is nice but expensive.

Expensive? A Sager would cost much more in Europe...

A 4760 from Sager currently costs around $2100 with 3.06 P4, 1gb of ram, 60gb 7200 RPM hd, dvd writer and 128mb radeon 9600, internal wireless B

Nearly the same configuration (some of which aren't the same because the ZD7000 doesn't give it as an option) with: 3.06 P4, 1 gb of ram, 80gb 5400rpm hd, dvd writer, internal wireless b and 128MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 came to exactly $2947 for the ZD7000...

now you said that a Sager costs more in Europe which I appreciate but I'm sure if you wanted to order from PCTorque the duty/shipping wouldn't be over $847 (difference in price between the two 17" laptops) but hey, whatever you like go for it! if the ZD7000 works for you then good luck! I just personally happen to like the 4780 because of it's bang for the buck.. but the bang for the buck may change as you get farther from PCTorque!

This also reminds me! a european buyer has already recieved his 4780.. check out the pics, it looks so sweet! 4780 Pics

dont you mean the 4760? the 4780 ain't out yet.

@jonnyrobs
First - yes i've seen the photos of 4780 - to be exact i posted the link to the forum.
You see the prices to pay for a full featured Clevo D470V (4780) in UK?
P4 3.2 512MB DVD-Rewriter, Video Camera etc. ....
1878.83 £
thats round about 3.182 USD !!!!!!
Smaller Version is round about 2.785 USD (3.06, 512MB, CDRW Combo)

Second - I have to pay our VAT when ordering from pctorque.

Third - i do not believe the price of Sagers 4780 will be exact the same as for 4760 (that would be great ).

Are you saying that a non 800 FSB, non 7200 rpm HD laptop with a FX5600 hitting 12k on 3Dmark01? I very much doubt it unless it's overclocked beyond safety. Could you provide a link with that ZD7000 scoring 12k?

The 4780 is out in Europe. Tests from the first customers state around 9750 in 3Dmark01 and around 2900 in 3Dmark03. Kinda dissapointing IMO.

Cheers.

ya we'll just have to see what the price differential is.. hoping it's not too bad between the 4760 and the 4780... guess we'll see in a few days!

Hi, no this machine was a unit with P4 3.2 (with 800FSB and HT - and the Geforce was overclocked)

The 3dmark discussion and highest scores are found in the zd7000forums.com (Benchmarks)

I just read that post on the ZD7000 forums. I will quote here the guy who did indeed hit 12k 3Dmark01:

------------------------
Quote:
just use geforce tweaker. the default core clock is 175mhz and for memory is 300mhz, that is pretty sad for the geforce fx 5600go, i know that the GPU can run faster than that , so I overclocked to core at 375mhz and memory at 702mhz, it is running great
------------------------

That some SERIOUS overclocking. I wouldnt feel condifent to overclock a laptop to literally double the original standards. However, the author of the post claims that his system is stable after few days of overclocking.

Cheers.
10:1 that for teh memory, he meant 350x2, NOT 700X2...
ho ho ho, the overclocking continues. He reached 12350 score at 350mhz core and 725mhz memory clock.

That guy will toast his brandnew machine LOL.

Cheers.

Yeah, I'm so excited. I just hope the final specs offer wireless g standard and the dual-channel memory, which it won't, but still excited.
