So...why did you do it?

Reading through posts by members is educational in many ways, you get to know a little bit about the person...and you start getting mental images of them, what they look like, how they speak etc etc.

But the one thing that always gets me wondering....how the hell did many of you choose your names...I know the stories behind some (NassauMike) and guessed at others (Yang88She) and made convoluted guestimations at others (DB).

My choice was simple....RED 5 was Luke Skywalker's callsign in Episode 4 - A New Hope. But because another user on a bulletin-board I used to frequent way way back had chosen that, I turned it into REDPHYVE. And I have been using that since possibly 1979...I can't remember when we got our first Amiga.

So....my question is....how did you choose your NBF name?

I have been DarthBeavis since 1997. I frequented my first board at coolsurfin.com when I chose that name. The boards were at one time widely popular (with Stars Wars and gaming stuff). Over time I became an admin. The board deteriorated and closed down about six months ago for good.

I use other names for online gaming including:

LetsBBQBinLaden
ChronicYeastInfection
YeastInfection

it started as an ebay name....one that my friends/girlfriend suggested for me because they say i am always fidgeting when im not gaming. i have only one other name that i use when im gaming online, thats JTF2 but that is much mroe rarely used by me now. I used to use it alot more but 98% of the time you will find me using fidget.

i chose mine because it's tattood on my arm. it's chinese for "i am god" the characters are like this 我是上帝. i've basically been going around announcing my title for 5 or 6 yeasrs now...it's a long story, and no one needs to be bored with it. but hey! it's good to have good self-esteem, right?

Way back when I got my first e-mail account, I wanted to use my nickname, hillie, but it was already taken, so I used hillie16. Nickname+badge number.

Back when AvP2 first came out I was just getting into online gaming and being blooded is what happens after your first kill (also a Predator rank). thus blooded - one . also the OD stands for Obsidian Dragon which is the clan I have been in for over two years for AvP2 .

My dream car was a 2003 mustang cobra. It was supposed to come out in 02, and was titled "terminator." SOOO well before I bought the car, I signed up on some forums and used "terminator02"...stupid me came to find out later that it came out as an 03 model.

"Brokn" for the NIN album "Broken". "Spyrl" for the NIN album "The Downward Spiral" I've had the alias since Spiral came out, back when I was surfing the net on a 28.8 via AOL on my parents PC. Ah, to be 14 again.
