Is AVG Free edition Affective

Hi Everybody Me Again!

Just wanted to know that AVG Free Edition efective or not becuse I reinstalled Norton Internet Security 2005 and it doesnt turn on Auto-protect.

If you have some Creative (audio card) program running it interferes with Norton Auto Protect.

Try this and see if it helps

But, I do not have Creative (audio card) program I have Realtek AC 97 Audio if that helps. but please tell me that if it's effective!

I have never used AVG, but I know others that use it and it seems to work well for them.

I use the free edition and it works great. No issues and it's faster and updated more often (it seems) than norton.

I recently had an unpleasant virus experience whenh using AVG Free. It detected the nasties, but did nothing to stop them installing, and it couldn't remove them.

Avast! was considerably better, although it would only remove them in Safe Mode. It is also a resource hog.

I've gone back to Norton Anti-Virus.

its better then nothing, i use to run it and when i installed kaspersky it found viruses avg didnt find

avg works generally well. i use it on all (3) of my windows boxes (paired with a hardware and software firewall) to prevent the nasties...no problems yet

I've used AVG for years, a few times it has found a virus and didn't remove it but told me it was there. Just did a search in google, got the remover for that virus and all was good.

I've been using it for a while now, and I like it. Never had a problem so far. Of course lack of an infection doesn't mean AVG is any good... but I take it as a good sign.

I also use Zone Alarm Free edition Firewall is that good as well?

Zone Alarm works well for me (haven't got hacket yet ). It has a very easy to use interface. edit: and THANK YOU B! I was thinking the same thing!!!

quick appropriate usage: The title of your post affected B Nietsnie, who worried about the effect it would have on those of us who are obsessed by using proper grammar.

AVG is crap, it has a tiny viral database and simply does not have the resources that a company like Symantec has for releasing viral updates for the highest threats...that actually work.

Countless customers I put AVG on their computer have brought it back just crawling with little bugs.
