hello everybody
im planing to buy a laptop..ive choosen the aspire 5022 because of its good grafic(x700 128mb).but i got two problems regarding to this choice:
1. 512mb ram is not enough for me
2. Amd turion ML30 is not fast enough

so i desided to upgrade the ram for beginig and then in a few months the cpu.
so here are the questions:
.can i put 1024mb of ddr-400 in it???originaly its shiped with ddr-333 ram,but ive read on amds website that the turion supports ddr-400.(the motherboard has an ati radeon xpress 200m chipset)
.can i upgrade my cpu to a turion ML34 or to ML37???

meybe these questions are squpid but it will be my first laptop.i have never being interested in laptops before

thanx in advance people

I'd say yes, but my advice is you should go with a laptop that has everything you want from the start, it's going to be easier and cheaper ... also, I don't know what manually upgrading does to Acer's warranty

Does it have to be Acer ?? Other brands will allow you to configure, but Acer doesn't work that way ...

whell...it doesnt matter what brand it is.but i also dont care about the warranty coz i live in a shity island(cyprus) and no way to contact witha acer or any other brand from here.it would take months maybe.i need a laptop with 1 gig ram amd 3200 or faster(not semptron) and a x700.all this around 12500 euros.i need it for gaming so it has to be a good machine.this acer is cheaper than that,so with the memory upgrade iam around 1240 euros

Upgrading the memory

Hi,

I recently bought an Aspire 5022 and chose to upgrade the memory from the standard 512 MB DDR-333 RAM to 1 GB DDR-400. The chipset recognizes the faster memory and it runs at 400 MHz. I ran some tests with SiSoft Sandra 2005, and memory performance has increased dramatically. Overall system performance has of course increased as well, not to mention the fact that there is much less need for disk swapping, so the notebook is running longer on a battery as well. Thus, I can definitely recommend the upgrade!

Best regards,
Leo
