Audigy 2 PMCIA vs. ExpressCard on new notebooks

I ran into this problem while deciding on what notebook to buy. I had my mind set on Acer TravelMate 8104 at first but then I heard Fujitsu-Siemens is releasing (with 2-3 months) a great DTR-17" notebook, M4438. The only problem is that it doesn't have PMCIA slot, only the newer ExpressCard slot. This wouldn't normally be a problem but I was planning on buying Creative's SB Audigy 2 ZS Notebook (PMCIA) sound card, and now apparently I can't.

However, someone told me that M4438 has a great Intel sound card inside but I'm sure it has not got all the new EAX-effects that would be handy while playing games.

Do any of you had this problem and what was your solution?

Not sure about specific Fujitsu model, but the so called "great Intel sound card" (code-named Azalia) is actually not so great. It's Realtek ALC880 in disguise, it's 5.1 channel, it's decent, supports EAX 2. And that's it. By the way, Acer 8104 has it builn-in too. Audigy 2 ZS Notebook is much better for gaming though.

Considering the fact that you posted in A&V subforum and not in Gaming, I would not recommend Audigy. It's really for gaming, not sound production.

As an alternative, you might want to use external USB2 (or even Firewire - I hear there is one such card) sound card with Fujitsu laptop. There are very good professional sound solutions in that area.

Ok, well I probably should have posted this in the gaming forum then, because I mainly worry about my gaming experiences withouth the Audigy2 PMCIA. However, I'm a musician, although not pro yet, but I don't do that much audio production. Unfortunately, while there are great USB- and firewire external sound cards out there, none of them offer the same kinda performance that Audigy 2 PMCIA offers in games (or am I wrong?)

Maybe I should just buy the F-S M4438 (in 2-3 months when it comes out) and wait for Creative to release a better solution.
