I'm not a "SUPER-USER" of XP, but in general I think I've seen just about everything that can happen to a computer... but not this obviously. I'm VERY mistified what's happened to cause this error to happen all the sudden and how to fix it. As I'm sure you're aware the Sager 4750 bios doesn't have many if any options for modifying IRQs and such.

Just to be clear this "IRQ not configured - PCI Mass Storage on Motherboard..." error hasn't happened at all in the entire preceeding eight months that I've owned this laptop. The error now occurs immediately after hardware sensing upon bootup.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the other problem i'm having... a clean install of windows just spontaneously shuts down my laptop after an indeterminate time.

*sigh* If I were to take a guess I'd guess that even though recent measured temps didn't indicate the laptop was operating abnormally hot... "weird" stuff like this seems to happen often in cases of heat problems, heat damage, heat corruption etc... i'd love to hear that such is not the case here though...

Anyone got any ideas?
