How much better is Artic Silver 5 versus Artic Silver 3??

I am thinking about putting a real thermal paste on my video card, since as it is my GPU temps idle around 50C and go up to 65C or more when gaming, I have some Artic Silver 3 here, which I have had for a while - but I know that Artic Silver 5 is out, and I was wondering if Artic Silver 5 is that much better then 3?

Thanks all.

bumpity-bump - the only one. Anyone?

AS5 has a higher viscosity than AS3 so it doesn't flow out at high temps (stays put). If I were you I wouldn't worry about the GPU temps. The ATI card runs fairly cool already. The cost of the AS5 install (time and material) will greatly outweigh any benefits you would see.

I wouldn't worry too much about the GPU, but if you were going to apply it to the cpu, you have already taken it all apart, so why not just put it on the gpu also

My 2.0GHz P-M stays relatively cool compared to the GPU. So no one thinks its worth it? Isn't kinda bad that my X300 when OC'ed runs almost 70C?

hmmm... I don't have the 6000D, but, when I'm overclocking the geforce6800 (390/800) I never get temperatures like that. I'm usually in the mid 50's. Hopefully you will get some feedback from other x300 overclockers.

My OC'd x300 never goes above 50c let alone 70c!! mine is the 64mb version but i really dont think having the extra memory would make it 20c hotter than mine when gaming.

just out of curoisity, how are you getting your temps? what software are you using? thanks

I Use i8kfangui for my temperatures, just note that this program displays the DIMM temperature for the GPU and vise versa so watch out.

My GPU usually is in the 60s when i game (Overclocked) but quickly drops to around 46 as soon as i exit. I dont think there should be much to worry about hitting 70, i have hit it a few times too.
