9860 Built in Microphone

Is there something special I need to do to activate the microphone? I've tried everything to get it to work, but it's not working. It's unmuted in the sound control panel. The programs I use have voice activation off and it doesn't work. It doesn't work with voice activation on either. I checked the "Device Drivers & Utilities + User's Manual" CD but there's no driver in there for the built in microphone.

I've tested it with Windows sound recorder and other programs and it just won't work. Any ideas?

I tried sound recorder again and I've established that the microphone does work. BUT even if I'm speaking 2 inches away from it, it won't read my voice. The only way I foudn out that it actually works is when I run my finger over the microphone hole and it reads that noise. But no matter how close I get to the microphone, it won't read my voice. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've fiddled around with the volume controls and whether the microphone volume is on max or minimum, it won't record my voice.

try enabling microphone boost in the settings. this causes feedback sometimes, but it should help out.

I tried with no luck =( It just doesn't seem to pick up any sound unless I put my finger up to it and touch it.

Anyone from PCTorque know how to get the mic to work? I can't get it to pick up any sound except for when I'm hitting the microphone hole with my finger.
