i can't get the bf2 demo to work either, getting the same hardware configuration error, is there any way you could email me the .inf file as well please? darksol97@gmail.com
thanks!

Yeah, I need it too please: antsinthepants@comcast.net

And perhaps you could explain what this file is, and why you are the only guy lucky enough to already have it?

thanks,

DSL will not be the bottleneck. low hardware resources, like not enough ram are the real killers here.

i sent the inf file to the others that requested it. keep in mind that this is only for nvida drivers, not ati.

the darksol email name did not go through, ic royal.

and oh yeah, the mic on the 9860 does work. you have to be in a squad group to be able to use the mic or voice chat.

and the inf that i have you all have it as well because it is supplied by sager. so you can simply look wherever your sager nvidia drivers are located and simply copy that inf file to the 77.30 directory.

thanks for the file!

For those who have yet to read this and wonder about this file. The file he sent is, "nv4_disp.inf". I have not tried it yet, because while I was waiting, I downloaded the newest drivers on the sager site which are version 7.6.5.0 and looked for any file ending in ".inf". I actually followed the directions with a file named, "nvcv.inf". This file also seems to work just fine. I have no idea what it's for, but it did work for me.

help!

I need help, please. After playing BF2 on my 9880, I guess my comp gets too hot. It just shuts off. What can I do to fix this, I can't live with this problem. Thanks, Aaron.
I had the heat sync re-aplied on my 9860. It stopped it from shutting off, but it still spits out exhaust temps about 125f.

Aronn maybe u can give ur system specifications and after how much time ? When did u buy the 9880 ? Did u contact tech support ?

you need to re-seat the gpu heat sink and apply some AS5.

help

how would I go about fixing the heat sink or whatever? I have a 9880 3.4 Ghz, 6800 Ultra, 2 GB's RAM. After playing BF2 for 30 mins, the comp got hot and shutoff. I then elevated the machine, which seemed to help. What do I need to do next.

have you ever built a computer before, like a desktop rig? if not, then you won't be able to take out the gpu without pulling your hair out and possibly ruining your 9880.

if you really want to be bold, then go ahead and attempt the operation. go to your local computer store and buy some arctic silver compount (doesn't have to be AS5). then call sager tech support and have one of their techs guide you over the phone on the procedure. this would be your best bet.

or, suck it up and pay the $50 to ship the system to sager so they can do it. they will ship you the system back via 2nd day air at no charge.

either way your system should not be shutting down. my current 9860 has never shut down no matter what game i played on it. just make sure it is not 95F degrees in the room when you attempt to stress the system playing games. if your system shuts down while only playing BF2 and not any other high stressfull game, like HL2 or DOOM3, then besides the operation, check to make sure you have installed the 77.30 drivers provided in the BF2 demo.

Argh you are a wealth of info, but I have a few more questions;

Are there any tutorials for applying AS5 on the 9860 in this forum? I saw a tutorial but it was for a different model and then I couldn't follow the pictures.

Isn't there some way for me to test the mic first before joining a game?

i tried to test the mic with the in-game test mode but it didn't seem to do anything. but, regardless, if you know that your mic works then just join a squad and press B to talk and you will not have a problem.

call sager tech support and they will tell you where to apply the AS5 when you take the gpu out of the system. they won't yell at your or anything as they actually will encourage this so it can prevent another RMA on their part. just make sure you apply very little of AS5, like less than the thickness of a sheet of paper overall on the die itself.

i have not done this operation on my 9860 as there is no need to because i don't have any heat issue. but i have applied AS5 on desktop systems so the same principle should apply. thermal compound should go in between the die itself and the gpu heatsink. apply a very small ammount as too much will actually cause temps to increase.

ill just cop it when itt comes out.

So is everyone satisfied with the graphics?

I bet all the people that said that 2 gigs of ram was a waste of money are choking on their foot right now.

Does it look better than css? play better?

this is what the game looks like on my system with max detail, 1024 x 768 and 2x AA, and i play i an external 21" monitor at home. i used fraps to the fps during the snapshots. this is on a 64 player server.

notice in of the pics the dazed/blur effect when an explosion occurs next to you. adds a sense of realism.

argh....ou know youre the man right?

anyways..i just preordered this from gamestop.com. It came out to 65, not bad..especially after the san andreas wait i went through. This looks very promising hopefully the gameplay is top notch. I would hate to pay for this goodlooking blonde....only to find out shes dumb as a doorknob.
