I was thinking about ordering some Video Professors CDs so I can learn about computers and how to use the Internet. Has anyone tried these?

When I walk through the mall I get these idiots from some private diploma mill trying to get me to sign up for IT classes (to get some freaking AA degree, not even something remotely useful like certifications). I tell them I am a software engineer with an MIS degree and ask if there school can give me training above that. They say "Nevermind" and look away. I guess I must look like average trailer trash or something to be a magnet for this crap.

If he is just a figurehead that make sense. CEO is often the person who actually leads the company anyways.

I saw that guy on the "Today Show" he was a victim of identity theft, Today was trying to illustrate that it could even happen to the technically savvy professional. After listening to him talk for a few seconds about his "vast knowledge" I would tell you to skip those CD's, what a clown.

I scoff whenever someone says that. Trying to make a programming job sound more prestigious than it really is but in reality dissing the real engineer. lol. You sir are no Josh Bloch.

My grandma ordered those CDs.

I ordered them for my supervisor, well, me and the whole dept chipped in....

Apparently he was not amused, I think that mailing them to him via the company mailroom was the thing that set him off.

The joys of working with an asshole boss CANNOT be overstated.

I have the Christopher Reeve one which I wear regularly. My next purchase will likely be the I support single moms one.

I think even my mom knows more about computers than what those damn CDs can teach.

While you meant to be an ass, I actually agree with you. My title at my previous employer was "intermediate software engineer". I think it is because we worked in the paper industry writing process control systems that interface with paper machines. My job before that (Georgia Pacific) my title was Senior Programmer Analyst. I think that title was more accurate. My current title is Director. That is really inaccurate But I make as much as an "engineer" which is really what matters now isn't it?
