9880 or XPS Gen 2 - Page 5

Also did you notice sometimes it said we are running 76.50 drivers when we are running the 77.50's

Is this the 2MB Cache version or the 1MB version of the 3.6?

Only did it for the 05 results (have to go to bed, working early):
I'll recap the others asap, unless someone beats me to it. On the older tests the Dell seems to do much better, not sure about the % increase... seems as far as games are concerened the XPS2 can keep up with or pass the 3.6GHZ 9880; not sure why the older benchmarks show different results but they would show the XPS exceeds the performance of the 3.6GHZ 9880 in games. The older the test, the better the Dell seemed to do.

P4 3.6GHZ CLEVO –vs- PM 2.13GHZ DELL

3DMark05:

3DMark ScoreDELL +31( 0.6% increase) 3DMarks

Does anyone have the 3.8 though?
I mean its obvious that the 2.13 is powerful and its obvious that is alot more inexpensive..
but Sheer stats what can claim the title? 3.8 or 2.13?
i don't have either so i can't do any benchies?

?
A PM 2.13 cost $675
A P4 3.8 cost a little under $600
A P4 3.6 cost $295

The 2.13 is a very expensive CPU.

If we disregard the TDP (which is a big 'if'), then P4 670 would be the best CPU on the market, except A64 X2 dual cores, A64 FX and A64 4000+, which are all very expensive CPUs, and P4 3.8 is right in their neighbourhood.

P4 3.6 is a bargain right now, just as the A64 3800+ is, both are formidable CPUs, but since they are no longer the top dogs in their respective lines, they are being marketed at a bargain basement price. I would pick one of those up, if I was building a single cored machine, or need a heavy duty DTR.

I have an XPS 2 , and an AW 7700 (same Clevo Model as Sager) and we use a Sager 9880 at work. Well I don't really care about benchmarks between the two for games as there is not much to distinguish between the them. Quibbling over a few FPS when the framerate is smooth is pointless from a gaming experience. My XPS 2 has a good screen, compared to others I have seen but I would go for the Sager 9880 because even the best XPS screen / display just cant compare, the Sager / AW screen is outstanding.

The screen quality on the XPS is substandard. And yes I have heard Samsung make the Sager screen too, but it seems to be a different screen model, because there is a definite difference in display quality.

The poor screen affects the visual quality of the games and movies, I much prefer playing games and watching DVDs with the Clevo display. I can't be bothered having to start using an external monitor just for the XPS.

Note to Dell - start using better screens please!

Would you mind posting what screen comes with the 9880?
