Desktop equivalent of Pentium M processor?

Just wondering if anyone could tell me what the desktop equivalents of the Pentium M processors would be.

I just want some kind of rough estimate. For example, I heard that a 2.0GHz Pentium M is pretty much the same (performance-wise) as a Pentium 4 3.0GHz. Can anyone confirm or dispute this?

probably a bit more

a 1.6 pentium M is supposed to be roughly the same as a P4 2.8, so the 2.0 Pentium is probably close to a P4 3.4.

Thats bs.

The pentium 2.0 is about a 3.6. According to a dell chat who had his "help desk" on the line, told me that they said that a 1.86 is about a 3.4-3.6 p4. He also said that a 2.0 pm is a 3.6 ee. I think thats pushing it alittle. But i believe a 2ghz pm is about a 3.4-3.6.

my bad.. i was looking at the Pentium M 745 2.0 on the list.. that one is equiv to a P4 2.8. The Pentium M 755 2.0 is equiv to a 3.2

there's a formula behind it proven accurate by 4 reliable sources.. but if you want to believe your processor is faster than you think.. then that's fine with me =)

You forget that those are the P-M 7x5 series, 400 MHz FSB. The P-M 7x0 series with the 533 MHz FSB is slighlty faster

Or I could just tell you that my P-M 1.86 GHz encodes a movie in about 50 minutes faster than the desktop 2.66
