You can post whatever you want, except that's not what you said. You are contradicting yourself, your posts were:

my bad.. i was looking at the Pentium M 745 2.0 on the list.. that one is equiv to a P4 2.8. The Pentium M 755 2.0 is equiv to a 3.2

725 is equivalent to a p4 2.3

ACTUALLLY

.. it's benchmarked
As I said in my first post, you CAN compare for specific uses. There are applications where the PM is strong and P4 is weak and vice versa, so when comparing and ranking which is better performing, it depends on what the user is going to be doing and how important is performance (or lack of) in particular uses and applications.

And it doesn't help that you come off as condescending especially since you don't seem to be very knowledgable about the subject.

Basically its fast for what you need it for.

Gaming Pm >>> P4
Video Encode Pm << P4
Audio Encode Pm = P4

Also Please keep the language clean I hear enderet is ban happy and I wouldnt want to have him come by here for some summer cleaning

WELL, WELL, WELL, we finally get the most specific and best answer to the question! Thanks Dell-Machina

You know what...I dont think we even know what benjamonous really will be doing with this comp...Gaming? Video Encoding? Email,Web Browsing? Tell us so that we can tell you what Processor will be good for you!

I had a 8500 with a 2.4Ghz P4M and then I replaced the system board and cpu with an 8600 1.5Ghz P-m. 3DMark 04 benched about the same between both computers. The rest including video card, Hdd, memory, display stayed the same. I have since upgraded the memory to PC2700 from PC2100 but didnt see much improvement in scores.

Dude, lazybum knows exactly what I'm talking about, so does mimiman> I was just curious about how the Pentium M's compare to desktops in things like gaming and video encoding, etc. I'll be using my i9300 mostly for gaming and video editing/encoding. I just wanted to know how the processor stacks up against desktops for these situations.

Again, k25anova51, that's why I said clockspeed isn't such a determining factor on performance.

Having said all that...

How does the Pentium M 2.0GHz compare to an AMD 3500+ for video editing/encoding?

Same question for gaming performance?

And, how worthwhile is 2GB of RAM in both situations?

Thanks guys.

PM2.0 533 vs AMD 64 6500+
Video Editing/Encoding Amd wins
Gaming PM wins

2gb ram seems only necessary for High end video editing encoding and for Microsofts yet to be released OS Longhorn which will be heavy on memory.

Whats so great about the PM is its an entirely different processor not designed around common P4's. In its architechture the pipes (i think i am referring to that right) are shorter, so information is sent more efficiently and quicker, thats y the higher clock cycle is not necessary. This is also y it beats most other processors in gaming, i guess...tomshardware explains this in depth.
