Palm reliability

Ok So I'm Looking to move on from my incrdibly unreliable palm tungsten E. Unreliable in that at least once a week you are guranteed having to do a full system reset, and therefore lose everything, which means that every chance you have you have to sync with your computer which isnt always a short process.

I'm still looking at the palms, since I'm familiar with the OS, and the overall speed of the system.

I guess My options now are the E2, T2, T3, T5, and Tungsten C. I'd like to know if you have any of the above how the reliablity has been, if you had it for more than a couple weeks. Thanks.

Most people that have the Palms like them, and I haven't heard much bad from them. However, anyone who has the newer PDAs has had problems with the battery dying if they hadn't plugged it in everyday. This includes the Palm, or PPC devices.

I have the palm t3. I like it but as stated, my battery dies if not plugged in for like 3 days. In that case all is lost because the memory config on those things is as backwards. my thoughts. Other than that i like it

Speaking of pdas, my axim(ppc 2003) was just put in the washing machine and drier by my sister. Dell is shipping me a new one fo free!

I have a Palm Zire 71 that I use at work. It's really neat and easy to use but crashes on a frequent basis when hotsyncing. Never lost any data on the crashes even when I had to perform a hard reset.

Charging isnt an issue, there is always a socket available, and I reacharge things like that everyday anyway, i just can stand the unreliability of the Tunsten E.

Why not getting a Pocket PC instead, say like the iPaq's?

I've got one of those and have had no problems at all. Lots of gadgets and software available for it too.

Just a thought.

the screen on my palm tungsten E got misaligned terribly _right after_ (read: days) the warranty periodo expired. It started with nothing, and the align utility on the OS solved for a while. It happened more frequently and after some weeks, it was very very bad. i bought in nov/2003. I also know other person that had simmilar problem, but in the warranty period. better for him, bad for me.

if i would buy one now, i would buy a good (wireless 802.11) dell or ipaq, but i don't have enought knowledge of any brands (and no brand) or models.... i know palms, hehe

You can call them and ask about the differeces between both type of PDA's and what advantages they offer. Pocket PC's are better as they have more connectivity, talk better to your desktop computer and have a lot more utilities and software available.

It is always a good move investing on an extended warranty when it comes to electronic devices..
