You say they are screwed together better? You do realize that the same electric screwdriver is used on HP assembly lines for all laptops don't you? You do realize that they automatically stop driving the screw once its tight don't you?

Now your correct, business mobiles are meant to be reliable... Well many of the business models use almost the EXACT same parts as the consumer models... The difference is the case around the parts... most of the business models have a thicker case around it & or is simply a stronger case... Heck Its sad how the business models cant be dropped from a server in a rack onto the ground with out being damaged badly (I'll admit though, the hard drives almost never get damaged when dropped)... All my laptop has on it is scratches... lots of them...

Look, maybe someday you will spend time watching someone in an HP factory assemble a laptop, but until then don't talk like an idiot and talk about how the business models are screwed together much better ...

BTW: The thread started was the one first comparing a home model with a business...

That must be why my dell latitude c600 seems so much better then the ze5000. If I could afford it I would like another latitude. They seem to carry the same parts interchangable for a long time. Thats another huge concern for me is longevity. The next I buy I will have to keep for a few years or until it dies. HP doesn not seem to have the longevity that Dell has. I try to look up the parts I have for my HP now and it's impossible on their site. Dell still list everything for the C600. That really caught my attention! HP seems to dump a line fast.

Another concern is my next will be a desktop replacement. So it will be worked very hard and on for 8 hour stretches. Example at work all day then when I get home to do some lan gaming or sim racing. How long should I expect one to last? I understand the more cycles the shorter life but what is the average life span?

Well, after all the ZE product line is very old... HP dumps product lines every 3 - 5 years... & then will only fully carry parts for the first 6 months to a year after dropping the product line... After that its whatever they have on hand... However they still have parts for the systems which are compatible, I.E., They sell a screen for my zv5240us, which is compatible and the same as the one in the ze5000's.... They just dont say so... Dell does, which is something I like about them...

DTR's always last a long time as long as you dont overclock the system... They are built to be used all the time and keep ticking... If you go with a well known brand you should be fine... Dell, HP, Sager, are all well known brands, If you have had good luck with dell then by all means... I fell that way with HP, being a customer for 10+ years using laptops, desktops, printers, etc...

Thank You much for the input! It will be heavy but I think I want a dtr now. This forum is bad for the bank account lol! But I need sturdy and power. A dtr should be as solid as a brick I hope. Only problem I need to find a balance between power and battery life. And it needs to be able to game decent.

Dells are great if you have the money to throw around. Compaqs and HPs are the best bang for your buck period. I have never seen so many features for the price of an HP or Compaq. I love my R3000Z!!!!!! Thats my 2 cents

I see your has a built in card reader. I think that is going to be a must for my next. A SD reader would be handy with the digital camera. I had my ze with a usb reader and its kinda a pain to drag it out. But does HP have a strong feature rich DTR on a centrino platform between 1500-2000 dollars?

In the business line:
- 17" screen: No
- 15.4" screen: Yes, nx8220 (non-US only), nc8230, nw8240 (over $2000, though)

Some business computers may not have DVD+-RW but only DVD/CD-RW, but otherwise they kick ass.
