Sure the gaps are kinda close, but how much OCing is it going to take to push the 6800go past the ultra? I would have to say quite a bit.

The 6800 Ultra is definitely faster but the 6800GO is still a very formidable video card - not that this information is new
post #27 of 43
I am also suprised that they were so close. The ultra is definitely a more powerful card but I didn't expect them to be that close. I have a 9300 btw with the go card.

I'm willing to post more benches of other games, Anyone here want to bench doom 3 against my XPS? OC to OC, I don't want to flash my bios.
shoman, I think it would be great if we could benchmark a 6800Go @1440x900 against a 6800Go Ultra @1920x1200, and then do the ultra again at 1440x900 to compare apples to apples. Let's use our everyday overclocks (mine is 370/800). I think this will help answer a lot of questions for those choosing between a 9300 and an XPS2, etc. I have Doom3, HL2, and BF2 installed, so lemme know if you wanna do this

Lets do doom 3, I have to install it... I'll report back with benches on the first page at different settings and stuff....

Ill just be running the ingame timedemo.
Sounds great, quote all your exact settings, image cache size, mink, etc. along with AA and AF and I'll post right after

EDIT: Let's do them on ultra quality so we don't even have to worry about the image cache.

Ok, I am trying to do these benchmarks and everytime a timedemo finishes it exits the game right after it goes back to the console. Anyone have any idea why? I'm probably just overlooking something.

It is writing the spreadsheet and on the d3c171 my average is 54.1 on a stock xps 2... I don' t think something is right here.

I was using the Guru3d timedemos... the first one would take me to the desktop at the end everytime I tried it.
This is a great thread, I am suprised how close the frames really are. I don't like to OC my hardware so I prolly won't be going above stock but ya never know.
I normally play around with overclocking whenever I get a new piece of hardware but after I am done playing I always go back to stock settings, I don't notice enough of a difference while playing to keep it overclocked.

HAhah wrong thread

Good scores, better then mine at stock
I get about a 10-20fps difference between Quality and performance so I think I'm going to stick with performance in the drivers... I don't notice the difference in the game.
