Well, PowerMizer already drops the clock on the 6800 to pretty low levels on battery power, but the XPS2 still gets around 2 hours.
Just for kicks, I dropped the clocks on my 9300 to 73/83. I only got about 8 fps on the CSS stress test. But my battery meter indicates that I'll get about 3H on a charge (full CPU), and my GPU temp is still around 47C.
So, I think that the minimum wattage consumed by the 6800 is still pretty high relative to other GPUs, like the X300. I guess that makes sense given that the 6800 has around twice the transistors of the X300.
Has anybody figured out whether the 6800 on the XPS2 is run at higher voltage than the 9300? Probably the thing that would really give you guys better battery life is undervolting the GPU.
