How to do a clean install of XP with the Recovery CD

I just got a Sony T-250p/l and I want to wipe out the useless stuff. How can I reformat the drive and then reinstall xp pro sp2 with all the drivers? Can anyone help?

I've never used the recover CDs to install, but assuming its anything similar to WinXP, Linux, etc. installation... You basically put the first CD in to boot off of, and follow the prompts. Just make sure to select the prompts for fresh install or format the HD and then install. Shouldn't be all that difficult.

the problem is that with the recovery cd, it reinstalls all the junk that it came with.

and if i use a windows xp cd that I have from my old laptop, it won't have the drivers.

Alternatively, install with the Windows XP CD... then restore the drivers only with your recovery CD. It will not install the drivers for you, but it will install them into a directory so you can install the drivers yourself.

thanks, I found out how to do it.

all I had to do is use the recovery cd, install and when it asked me to insert the disk after xp was installed, I clicked close and then went to the start up menu and deleted the auto reminder. kinda confusing but if anyone has the same problem, pm me.
