Sager 9880 to UK

I live in a little 3rd world backwater country called the United Kingdom. Maybe you've heard of it? Well, anyway, here in my country, if you want something like a Sager laptop, you have to pay about twice the price for it, even if you can find one. The nearest I've come across are from SavRow or Rock, but they're not 9880's, don't have the configs I really want, and still cost $1k more.

It would still work out cheaper if you had it imported from the US and paid the duty and UPS's ridiculous 200 buck delivery charge.

Unfortunately, being a 3rd world backwater country, our money is no good in your US of A. All I want to do is be able to order a laptop online somewhere and not get ripped off, and pay with a Credit Card. It seems this isn't possible. Neither PCTorque or XoticPC are willing to take my money. Which kinda amuses me really, because the basic concept of credit cards is that they're international. But oh well.

Does anyone know of an alternative vendor who might be willing to risk the unenviable task of taking $4k off of me in exchange for shipping a laptop to the UK? Or somewhere in the UK that has the same sort of configurations but isn't a ripoff?

I sorta doubt it, but I figured I'd ask anyway

http://www.go-mv.co.uk/ is the only company I know who do the same spec as the 9860. I am also from the UK but currently working for the US state department in Iraq so I can use the US postal system but I also had a problem buying mine from Sager. I had to use an American Express card and fill out some form, can't remember what it was for. Now my only problem is sending it back to be upgraded which would also be a big problem for you if you brought from the US. I don’t know what the difference between MV and Sager is but you might save in the long run.

thanks, innerspinn. Their laptops are actually quite reasonably priced, but the 17" screen is 1440 x 900 with the option to upgrade to 1680x1050. I reeeally want the 1920 x 1200 WUXGA screen.

I really can't believe you can't buy a Sager 9880 in the UK. Our insignificant blip of an island must just not be worth the effort of retailing to, I guess.

Yeah,

I'm from Scotland and am not looking forward to the extra £450 for getting it to the UK. A reseller in the UK would be great, or even better if PcTorque set up an office here since they are the best. But there's no chance of that.

Alienware also supply the same chassis. So really you have 4 companies you can choose from, but you are right and the UK is a rip off although once shipping, exchange rate charges(2% depending on your bank?)) and VAT are included the difference really isn't that much?
I decided to go with SavRow instead of Voodoo because of the support issues.
I was not dissappointed!

I got an 9860 back in November and paid around 240 dollars shipping and i was going to pay something like 17% import tax! But thankfully because i'm a foreigner studying there i escaped the tax by filling out some forms FedEx emailed me. But i want to get it upgraded and im thinking of giving it to one of my friends who study there when he goes back and then post it back to me. Its still going to be very expensive though... Maybe if you have a friend there who can buy it for you and bring it to the UK?
I know they dont accept credit cards but wire transfer is not that difficult to arrange. I arranged mine all the way from Cyprus and everything went smoothly.
