NP3880 vs NP4880

Well, the main difference is the GeForce 6600 Go and Radeon X700.

If I overclock 6600 Go then it seems like a better performer but unoverclocked X700 does much better. So, I am not sure which way to go here....

I don't know how long 6600 Go overclock will last without artifacting and etc...

who knows.... its a new model i dont think anyone could really tell for sure right now. they are both good cards and i dont think there is really going to be trouble either way.

They're about the same price, the 4880 only has a marginal increase in performance over the 3880. I guess the next thing would be about looks. Which one do you feel suits you more? Im very happy with my 4880, it performs wonderful and I think its every aesthetically pleasing.

I thought that the 3880 had an advantage in RAM though since it supports DDR2?

That may be, but im not sure exactly how much of an increase the DDR2 sports. From the reviews ive seen, its been very negligable, though those reviews were a bit dated (Im talking about overall performance, not these two laptops in particular). Either way you go, im sure you'll be quite happy with your purchase.

the thing with ddr2 is that in the fruture it will offer more upgradeability as ddr is going fast when it comes to laptops. fewer and fewer are using it and sooner rather than later it will be completely gone, ddr2 will replace it and that means if you decide you need more ram your ability to find it will be increased.
