ZD8000 DVD/CD Drive not working at all

The DVD/CD Drive in my ZD8000 is not working at all. When I put in a DVD or CD, the light on the drive just constantly flicks off and on, then just eventually stops.

Not matter what type of media I try, it just won't work.

The device is on my hardware profile and the system says it is installed and working properly.

Anyone have any ideas or had similar problems?

Will it work if you go to my computer and click on the drive with the cd in? See if it works that way. Or try start, run? Your Auto run might be bad or corrupted.

Doesn't work at all. Everything I have tried doesn't seem to make any difference. Even CD's with just images.

How long have you had your comp? Time for some warranty work if it's still under warranty.

I've only had it for about 4 months. Just replaced the monitor a couple of weeks back. It's just a pain in the neck as I don't want to have to leave it for repairs.

I would talk to HP about getting it fixed... They sent someone to my house to pick up my laptop and i got it back 4 days later...
