I am not an expert on video cards so I cannot comment on what will or will not unlock pipes. Are you sure their cards did not have a laser cut?

I know what laptop I have. You will just have to take my word for it. I am sharing this information so everyone can benefit from the added FPS in games. If you think that I am lying for some reason then ignore my postings. BTW, what other laptop even has a mobility 9800?

Can you explain in more detail how you did it?
Did you use a conductive pen or something?
I tried installing the new bios and got the message "resources missing". Do I need Dell drivers installed? I have the -102 BIOS as well.
Where are these crazy guyz Whackamac and Thomszak and Hulk? They are always the first ones to test these things.

This is the only confirmation I have seen that someone else tried it and succeeded:

I kind of stumbled upon this when I installed the latest ATI drivers. I will take some time to retrace everything I have done and put together an instruction manual. Might take me a bit so be patient.
Yes, a conductive pen is involved.
Not sure about that message when you try to install the bios. I have never seen it before. Are running the bios update from windows or from a floppy?
