Power Supply Question...

Alright well after purchasing my video card, i was thinking i wonder if my power supply is good enough, so here is my delema:

I have an ATI x700 PRO 256mb card on the way, i have a 270 watt power supply that cannot be upgraded due to my case design, ati says that it requires at least a 300 watt, but my card manufaturer says minimum is 250 watt. I did the power supply calcualtion here and came up with 263 watts. So what is the worst thing that could happen? My computer is under warrenty, so i pop the card in, it frys my ps, so i turn it in under warrenty after i take the card out and they send me a new on, and i just return the card? How does that sound? I mean worst situation is that i get screwed over on my warrenty and end up putting the mobo in a non alienware case and getting a better power supply and putting the card in it and away i go.

BTW, alienware said they could only upgrade me to an x300 because of the power supply problem, and said that the x700 requires a 480 watt power supply, but they offer as one of thier options an the damn x700. i dont know, i guess since they offer it i shoudl be safe.

maybe when they offer it on their website, if you got the x700 card they would have given you a more powerful PSU? the power supply will not be 100% efficient, so 270watt will not actually provide 270 watts of power. My educated guess tells me that it will not work. You will at the very least suffer severe stability issues. As soon as you fire up any game, i'm guessing the computer will crash.
