software for noob

i am familiar with some video editing software... i was in a web design class but the teacher didnt knwo anything about the subject so he tought video editing on MACs. we used iMovie... is there anything for windows that user friendly and gets the job done? links would be nice.

There are lots of programs out there. Premiere Elements and Avid are very good. However, I'd suggest using/learning MovieMaker2 since it's already on your computer. There are some good websites and forums that support it, and you can do a fair amount with it. If you really take to video editing in a big way and outgrow MM2, you can then move on to the more capable programs.
