The wonders of Sager tech support....

Read the dialogue below. My original email is on the bottom and Sager's reply is above. Their "support" is almost laughable. Im just glad this isnt a bigger problem because this is not the kind of support you want to have after making a $2000 purchase.

Hi David, when the computer is on battery power, the display is dim. You can
use the <Fn>+<F10> to turn up the brightness.

Subject: problem with 3880 (Thread:36482)

Im having a problem with my 3880-V. When the notebook is running on
the battery, the screen does not display properly and it does not boot
up beyond the login flash screen. The screen resembles a fuzzy
patchwork of random colors. Since it only happens when running on the
battery, Im guessing its a voltage problem. Perhaps the battery is
defective? (the battery is fully charged).
I bought the computer from pctorque on the 16th of May, and recieved it on
26th.
Let me know how we should proceed. Thank you.

I wish there was a direct chat to a specialist ! thos emails are just useless and boring. U have to wait a light year to get a response back and then u find out it's not what u wanted to here, and mostly it's only 1/10 of what u inquired !

I think I'd rather talk to someone in India than get a reply like that!

PC Torque has a tech support number. You should call them.

I had no problem with emailing tech-support. I explained what was happening and told them what I thought the problem was and they emailed me back the RMA and the they called me after it was repared and told me i was correct in my diagnosis and also asked if i wanted to keep the same shipping or if i wanted to pay for overnight shipping. I was quite happy with their support.

I guess one bad apple, it doesn't look like an automated response; but seems like they could have scanned for "keywords" and responded to them rather than the actual email.

I talk with Sager on this matter and apparently they crossed your email reply with another. As far as i know they should have already contacted you back.

I've had nothing but good luck with Sagers email response. I had a 5660 that I was second owner of, and asked them if I could buy a new latch (apparently they break quite often), they sent me one for free. When I've asked questions before purchasing my new 9880, they've always been very helpful and concise.

Sager tech support has been a class act for me too. Only negative has been less than perfect english, but that has never really been a problem so far.

Luke, you're awesome. Yes they have contacted me back - and with much more coherent responses I might add. Im sure it was just a mix up because the first response was just too obtuse to be believable.
Thanks for your assistance!
