9600 Pro acting weird on my 8600

Bought my 8600 in Dec. 03, its the older version with the serial ports at the back and the horrible keyboard. I have been gaming on the machine (overclocking very slightly too) ever since i got it. I did have some lock up issues, but that was only when I OC'd more substantially. All of a sudden now, when I OC (just the way i used to) using either radlinker or ATI Tool, the game works fine for about 10 minutes or so, then I start losing fps. So if i'm at 50 fps, it'll drop down to 13 or 14 fps, and will stay there. I have tried this with a number of games, and i get the same issue all the time. This is happening when I leave the 9600 pro on default settings too.

I suspect I have an over heating GPU, but then I see no artifacts. All my CPU processes are working just fine, no spy/adware, nothing is pulling juice from my CPU. I'm pissed off and very frustrated. I am thinking of attempting the heat mod (artic silver 5 mod). Do you think that would make a differece?

Also, I have tried using both, DNA and Omega drivers, still no change. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Rao.

PS. Do any of you turn off your anti vrus software while gaming?

You need to clean the heatsink on your video card.

PS. No, I leave mine on. It doesn't interfear with mine unless its friday.. then it has that auto scan thing

I hope you're right! I hope that's the only issue. I did clean the smaller fan, I believe thats the GPU fan, but that was only by blowing some air through it. Is there a particular method you recommend to clean the heatsink? Also, when you say heat sink, you mean fan right? Or the whole cooling mechanism?
