disable speedstep?

hey guys
im trying to lower the voltage use and control the cpu level manually instead of using speedstep since i dont need it to use 1600mhz on somethign that doesnt need it. the only way i found to disable speedstep is from the bios. and after that the computer will only run at 800mhz. no way to get it back to 1600.

so myquestion is, is there a way to softwarely disable speedstep inside xp?
according to http://overclockers.com/tips1206/

there should be a speedstep disable option in the power manager but i dont see it.
help?

I believe if you select one of the power profiles, (maybe always on?) it'll run at full speed and not rely on speedstep.

see the problem is, i got crystalcpuid working fine. i can set the voltage and multipliers and everetything but if i run prime95, it'll use 100% cpu and speedstep kicks in and increases the voltage back to the original which makes the whole thing useless. so i have to disable it...

Go into the Power Applet in Control Panel and select the Always On option it will disable Speed Step. Right click your desktop > Click properties > Click Screen Saver > Power button > Change the Power Scheme to always on.
