But that's not logical Mr. Spock! Doesn't do "anything"? I presume you are clicking it from the Start menu? When I open mine, it starts HelpCtr.exe, HelpHost.exe, and HelpSvc.exe, all of which reside in C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries. See if you have them in that location. If so, double-click HelpCtr.exe and see if it starts the Help and Support Center. I couldn't find anything in the Knowledge Base about failures, but you might check more if you can't get it working.

I have all of those files, but executing them still does nothing. I dont even see the processes running in task manager. This is very strange.

Are you signed in as a full administrator? "Shouldn't" have to be, but sounds like a permissions thing, that it's not letting you execute HelpCtr.exe. I presume you've done the usual 2,000 reboots also.

I think I may have discovered my problem although its just a guess. Yes I am signed in as admin. I used a prog called Easy cleaner by toni arts. I believe I ran the remove un necessary files and it removed the help files. Now the question becomes, how do you replace them.

lol. nobody can aim at your foot better than you can, dontcha hate that?

start->settings->control panel->Add or Remove Software->Add/Remove Windows Components

that is where I'd look first. you'll need a real xp cd though, probably, not just your typical rebuild image that most vendors oem.

Not only did I shoot my foor, I nailed it in place just to make sure it didnt move when I aimed.

Oh well. Not like the help files were all that helpfull anyhow.

Is there a restore function in easy cleaner, if so try using that to see if it restores the help files. These programs generally back up deleted files for 30 days or more.

Roll back the system with system restore. I assume you regularly make a system restore point.

If not you can maybe check the program you used to remove unnecessary files and try and restore deleted files.

Otherwise you'll have to use the WinXP cd and do a repair, replacing the missing files at hand..Good Luck

Cheers..

Good idea about doing the system restore, but the thing is that it rolls back everything else as well. I think I will try the repair when I get a chance. I should have backed it up from the program.....

I dont think the system restore restores help files either.

He said the files are there, so it could be a problem in the registry. I really couldn't know if unless I was there, so to speak. But check everything that the posts tell you, anything you can think of yourself.

Oh and don't just go to forums. I nearly always find a solution by searching with google.
