Where is the 3G wireless cell technology that Japan and Europe has for years now?!! Ive heard of these new EDGE networks that Verizon is popping out, but I read somewhere this isnt considered the true 3G Standard, but more like 2.5 G.

EDGE is available via AT&T and Cingular Wireless, you will need PCMCIA cards like the Sony Ericsson GC82 to access them. You can find a card like that on ebay for roughly $10. It is really good for whats its worth, but the price of the data network is just way too costly (pushing $80/month) for unlimited access

EDGE is the Cingular/AT&T name for it's current wireless data offering over it's GSM network. Verizon uses CDMA technology and the 1XRTT standard for it's 3rd Generation data network.

The $80 per month for Cingular also includes unlimited WiFi wherever a hotspot supported by the Cingular Connection Manager is found.
