Well got my new 680 on Monday as promised even though the shipper said not until Wednesday. First thing I did was fire it up and proceed to unload the bloatware. Man that AOL crap is insidious junk. I spent over an hour and a half in the registry just purging it from all that garbage. Getting rid of Norton and the other antivirus was considerably easier. Once done I was able to defrag and load the other software, like Photoshops new CS2 and others. All in all the Avast Antivirus and MS's own AntiSpyware worked great. This thing really flys. That 7200rpm hard drive is no slouch, and the gig of DDR2 RAM is nice. Needless to say the screen is astoundingly sharp, bright and contrasty like I've never seen before. NO dead pixels and NO light leakage. The one thing that is taking some getting used to is the keyboard, as it is a bit stiff compared to my previous laptops. All in all very precise though.. Having a number keypad is a treat also. The wireless networking (Intel's 2200 model) works flawlessly and affords superior signal strength in my living room from the router in my bedroom. The sound isn't half bad either. It is sexy with the thin profile, but indeed the left palm area get's a bit toasty after a short while. Not a huge problem just noticable. All in all it was a good move. However I was surprised to find only ONE PC card slot and not for 2 cards on the left side. I rarely use them so it's no biggie. It's a great piece of gear to be sure. I do have to say that the screen alone was worth the price of entry.
