OK, This thing comes in multiple configuations. Not all of them will have X700 64MB, some will be 915GM intergrated so until the spec goes up for specific country, let's not get your hope up ;-(. FWIW, the first shipment for the U.S. left the dock in China on 6/9 but I can't find out which configuration it is.

Too late - Hopes are already up.

I would assume the x700 would come with the higher end configured system. This setup would give the IBM t43p 14.1inch a run for its money. That is the other system I am debating as I have the IBM EPP discount thru a friend.

OK. Leave your hope up as the X700 is also on the boat ;-) ETA end of June/Beginning of July.
How did you find out about that shipment?

And any word on the price?

Holy jesus christ prancing on potatoes!

It's a 14.1 inch screen with the x700!!

Edit 1: SWEET MOSES DANCING ON ROSES THIS THING IS 5.2 POUNDS!!!! WHO WANTS TO BUY AN ACER 8100!?!?!?

I really like how small it is, but 14.1" seems a little small for gaming? i know some people do it, but personally I like a little more real estate

This doesn't look like it's advertised as a gaming machine. It seems as if it's advertised more as a thin and light ( 5.2 pounds ) with a serious GPU under the hood.
yeah but what else do you need a serious GPU for?
Well, I would hold till someone get some benchmark out. 3DMark05 on the engineering sample is only about 1600. Don't know what driver they were using or if the have to clock down the GPU. I would wait for some production unit benchmark before dumping the 8100. Also, the Global spec does nto include BT so we'll have to see if the U.S. version have them built-in.
i'll wait for some reviews on it before considering it.

battery life, what is the battery life
No idea on battery life, my friend at Acer have to give up their engineering sample to some marketing guy otherwise I would have try to get my hand on it so I can at least take some pictures and play with it a little. We see if they get it back before shipment arrives in the U.S. If so I'll try to get more info.
