I got my Alienware 7700 back in mid-April and it was everything I could ever want/need in a computer.
It worked flawlessly up until 2 days ago....
NOW I CAN'T GET WINDOWS TO BOOT.
I can't even boot in Safe Mode or get "Last known good config" to work either.
I have no idea wtf the problem is, the only thing I can recall doing before the last time I shut it down was deleting an 11 GB special effects project I worked on for a friend. After that, I used it for a few more hours, and shut it down like usual (with no sign of anything being wrong or any indication of an error).
I come home wednesday night from seeing Batman, hit the power button:
-Alienware loading screen comes up like usual
-Hard-Drive checking screen comes up like usual and says "functional"
-.........
-BLACK SCREEN
I've tried nearly everything I can think of to fix it and I have no idea what could be wrong. I really can't afford to lose any of my files b/c I was working day and night to finish my projects in time for graduation (I graduated from DePaul last sunday) and I didn't have time to backup anything.
Apparently Alienware doesn't care b/c when I was doing a livechat earlier today we had this exchange:
AW Dude: You could always use the Restore discs to bring your computer back to factory settings!
Me: Well would that erase all of my files?
AW Dude: Yes, but that seems to be the only option if you ask me.
Me: Well the computer is fairly worthless to me if I lose 4 years worth of files...
AW Dude: THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ALIENWARE!
Yeah........I couldn't F&&king believe that.
I'm really at a loss here and I need to find a solution FAST b/c I'm moving to Japan on July 22nd and I really need to have my notebook up and running again by then (preferably with all my files/programs intact!).
If anyone can help or offer advice I'd be forever in your debt!
