WXGA.. that's 1280x768
That's slightly wider than XGA at 1024 x 768. The screen's height is the same as a 12.1", but the width is wider than a 14.1" screen.

You go to cal poly pomona? COOL. what major are you in?

The screen is exactly like a regular 15", just 1.5 inches shorter.

1.since it is plastic on top, so it's somewhat lighter than w3v?
2.also do you think z63a is hotter than w3v, or similar? Since they have similar case, only different materials. And is it just the top part that are different?

the top of the w3v is like a very thin aluminum sticker deal i believe. weight is identical. the only heat problem is from the harddrive. which gets pretty warm but its livable
post #30 of 40
aluminum sticker eh? I would have atleast expected a thin sheet or something..
I dont think its a sticker, if it is I cant tell. I imagine it is a thin sheet of aluminum, but everything feels very solid. If you dont mind spending a few 100's more, the w3v has, in addition to the aluminum lid, the 64mb x600, bluetooth, and a (typically) longer warranty. The z63 is a much better value though if you dont need the video card.

well im sure its not a sticker. but its connected to the plastic so you cant really say its a full functional aluminum lid. plus you cant really have a lid made from alumium, cuz i would guess the lcd would get pretty warm back there. its like a brushed aluminum cover of some sort. probably snaps into the plastic. i dunno how bout someone opens it up. hahaha

my work is willing to price match dell's 700m with the same specs and same laptop model. at the current state of dell's website at the time of purchase.
the plus side to this is the dell comes with a 4cell battery, ours comes with a 6 cell standard. if you know anyone interested leave me an email at sales@optimosystem.com just thought it was a cool deal, dont wanna let it go to waste. haha

It is a carbon fiber/ plastic "alloy" - same as the W3V, Z70's, etc.

i think if i showed people the case and said yea its made from carbonfiber/plastic alloy, they would look at me and say. uhhh yea this is pretty much "plastic"
If you showed people it was a cow, and they all said it was a horse, it would still be a cow...
