Christine, thanx for the pics! That was awesome, and it really brought it all together for me.
Looks like you are using something besides the mx700, but I get the idea much more now. I'm still not clear how you can recharge now, but maybe even putting regular batteries in is an easy enough price to pay for the mod!
Ok,here is how i did it.

When you open up the base station, you will see two white connectors. One has 5 pins, and plugs into the antenna PCB. The other, is a 2 pin male-female connector. You can upnlug it, nad see a male end, and the famale end. The famale end, comes out of the main cable (the back main cable), and splits in a y from the USB leads. So stuck this end, (the famel part) out of the floppy hole as well. On the charger's end, i pulled the male connection out the existing cable hole. If i want to recharge, all i do is plug the ends in, and its good to go.

I am not sure. I know there is the mini0usb connection for the bluetooth, however, i guess i may have been wrong in thinking it looks like a usb port (though will still operate as one).

Also, i have tried taking apart my 5680, but cant seem to find all the screws to remove.. any tips?

ill take mine apart tomorrow... just make sure all the bays are out, i too had to hunt for many screws, ill post where the hard ones are tomorrow

Sounds good...

Like i said.. it may not LOOK like a usb port, but from my understanding, it still works as one, and will accept USB devices.
Did you get te bluetooth installed at all? If so, it is plugged into that port..

but, i shouldnt need pics to prove something as simple as this.. hell, i never expected to be called a liar when i posted something for people...
See how quickly you become a hero once the pictures are there for all to see? Its sad...but its the truth...and I dont blame them for being this way. For most people seeing is believing - same for me as well - however just because I have not seen I dont start to lose faith in someone or something...I still trust, hope and then someone like Christine Faith comes along and totally redeems my perseverance

AWESOME STUFF!!!

Laptop Modding

I love it! I absolutely love it! This is what I 've been hoping would start happening. Just be sure you aren't screwing your warranty, Doesn't seem like you have, no holes in the case, no solder. But that is the next step. Pretty soon, the average SAGER is going to look like its been BORG'd.

You should post this with LaptopMods.com, I am sure it will incite others.

Actually, without giving up too much info...

My next mod will involve another spare floppy tray, a 5" color LCD screen, and tons of l33tness...

If you really are a chick, and not some 93 year old living in his parents basement, you are by far the coolest woman around and should marry me right now.

haha no im a 19yr old guy...christine faith is my girlfriend
post #33 of 46
As long as you only hurt the FDD and nothing else - you have nothing to worry about as far as warranty is concerned - if your FDD fails then you have to PAY for a new one (I think) - but you should have no trouble as far as the rest of the laptop is concerned...

You can download the technical manual that has complete disassembly instructions (where all the screws are) from Clevo:

ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/SRVMANUAL/

Just go under the correct subdirectory for your model of Sager.

Yeah.. drilling the hole dont kill ur warrenty, since all you need to do is buy a new floppy bay.

Thats pretty badass. Good job. Really anyone with hotswappable media bays could easily do the same mod.

Thanks for the pictures.

Now if we only had good bluetooth mice to use, we wouldn't have to get creative.
