Shipping Woes

Hi there. Nice to meet you guys.

I have a problem, and would like anyones honest opinon. I am a soldier in Iraq and I haved ordered a Sager 8890 Laptop on Sept 18-22 Time frame. ( Cant remember the exact date ) But I do know it shipped the 24 or 25. ( The invoice says 24. ) People say normally it takes a package 2 weeks to get from overseas give or take a few days.

Well the problem is the shipper forgot to put the unit number in the address for shipping. So now some people say because of the zip code it should still find where it needs to go but no one is sure. Now im not sure well the heck my 3,000 computuer is in the middle east, and I wont have the chance to get any refund or anything for 3 months. The problem with that is that I may not even BE here in three months. The unit could redeploy before then.

Then what do I do? Ill be back home ( Thank God HURRAY ) but still 3k short and with no laptop. Ill just be ..ugh. Man I dont want to have to deal with that.

Its been about a month since the computuer shipped and I still havent seen it or know anything. My back is to the wall and im trying so hard not to get fustrated I dont know what to do. Anyone have any advice or input in my sutuation? Thank you much.

Welcome to the forum T Cheat. If you ordered thru PC Torque, I would send an email to Adam. He is probably your best point of contact for those sort of customer shipment issues.

BTW keep up the good work over there buddy. There are those of us who realise how difficult it is for you and do appreciate what you do .

I also am currently deployed to Iraq. I preordered a 5680 back in August, and it shipped in early September. It took almost 4 weeks to get to me here in Al Asad.

The mail system has improved a ton since I first got to Kuwait back in February, but it is still far from predictable. I would say that *most* packages do arrive within two weeks...some even arrive within days. Like I said though, my Sager took almost 4 weeks and I am just over 2 weeks in waiting for my copy of Halo from Best Buy.

Keep in mind that large boxes will take longer to arrive. It is my understanding that once mail gets to NY it comes over here on "space available." Obviously they can fit more small packages and letters than massive Sager laptops

Anyway, I wouldnt panic yet. Give it another week or so. Meanwhile I would start looking into all of the shipping details. If the shipper (Sager or USPS?) forgot to put your unit number on the box I would imagine that they would be obligated to pick up the cost of your notebook...it WAS insured after all. If it was you that forgot to enter the info when you were ordering things may be a little more difficult. Your laptop WILL make it here due to the zip code...making its way to you may be a little more difficult. Still, if you can get all of the shipping info (i.e. when it was handed over to the APO, who signed for it there, etc.) you should be able to figure out what lot it ended up on and from there you should be able to track it down.

Anyway, I hope that you end up getting your laptop soon and you dont have to worry about going through the APO tracking process. You will love your Sager when you get it...they are awesome machines. Now if only we could convince the DOD to drop Dell and start buying Sagers!
