LightScribe is GREAT!!! - Page 2

picked up some CDRs and DVDRs today to try out in my lightscribe (Benq model). i guess i should've ordered some with my drive. I love the look, very slick and more professional than stick-on labels, even without color.

just got my 9860 back with a new drive (supposed to be lightscribe). how do i tell if it is in fact a lightscribe drive and not another dvdrw? on the outside panels both look the same and not because i don't trust sager technicians, just want to make sure.

can i use my copy of nero ultra to make lightscribe cd's? sager did not provide a cd with the drive only overwrote my install with an xpress version

The lightscribe drive is NOT marked as lightscribe. I also have nero 6.6 Ultra and yes it does have lightscribe capabilities. If it's not listed in your program you can download the lightscribe patch from the nero site.

Edit : * Shark is that the Benq 1625? If so I have the same one.

Just call Sager direct at 1-800-669-1624 and order this kit. (DVR-9882-C, 8X DVD ± R/RW/+DL Combo Drive LightScribe Technology for NP9880 2nd Bay $160.00) It will work in your 9860.

Lightscribe is great much better than Yamahas disctat2 crap they had. Although their is a disctat2 version2 being released that is suppose to do color something.

1. Toshiba is the only maker of a notebook lightscribe drive to my knowledge.

2. Again I think up to now the only notebook lightscribe drive manufacture is Toshiba. Sager and others have no other choice.

From Sager or PCTorque you get the drive and the bracket kit for the second bay. From the other you get the drive only. So it is to your benefit to get it from Sager or PC Torque if you have a 9860 or 9880 that has only one drive right now. You will need this kit from them.

That's probably because it uses a "laser"....
