Any chance of a Turion based Asus notebook with a good GPU?

The title says it all really - I'm inclined to go for the Ferrari4000 currently, but if asus was to come forth with a turion based notebook like the Z71v, I'd grab that in a heartbeat? Anything in July to speak of?

i'm sure asus have plans for a higher class turion notebook
but then it might not be avaliable in the US for a while..
the ferrari is kind of expensive considering it is turion base..

What about the Asus A6U? R&J describes it as "The A6U is a video beast offering built-in webcam, 15" widescreen display and high-end graphics core for movies and games."

No clue what GPU it has, but it's priced like it has an IGP

It has the nvidia Go 6200. That's x300 type GPU.

Some guy had it run 1700 3dmark01

That's no good

still better than my score ... see sig

the 6200go might as well be an intel extreme graphics gpu (in other words crap)

1700 in 3dmark01?! I'm pretty sure I could beat that on my old p3 with a tnt2, but then again, that machine has some POWER!

I would test it, however, I replaced the video card with a FX 5200 so my dad could play Ghost Recon a little better. Though the tnt2 didnt do too badly on that, which is what I am basing my arguement off of.

try 10000, i have no idea were you got that number from, but a 32mb 6200 with a 2.1GHz pm scores 10,000, at the worst i see at about 9000, were that number came from i will never know

Not true. The 6200 Turbo Cache in the A6K (Note A6K, as the A6U uses some horrendous integrated SIS graphics) is noticably better than any inegrated solution at moderate resolutions (it won't typically pe paired with anything higher than WXGA). About the same as a Dell Inspiron 6000 ATI MRX300 in 3DMark03 and slightly better than a Asus V6V X600 in 3DMark05 and OpenGL. Go any higher than native res, though, and the 64bit graphics memory along with the lack of system memory bandwith (which makes TurboCache rather useless on a Turion) makes the framerates tank.

Some test results with a AMD Turion64 MT-30, 1,6 GHz, 512MB PC2700.

3DMark03: 2594
3dMark05: 1063
Doom 3, Medium Quality, 1024x768: 20,6 FPS
Far Cry, Medium Quality, 1024x768: 32,9 FPS
