How big of processor can the R3000Z handle?

I was just wondering how big of processor I could put in my R3000Z.

my best guess is 4000+...

No , The amd 4000+ is a socket 939 but R3000 only supports socket 754 so the highesy you can go is the amd athlon 3700+

If the R3000 motherboard has a 754 socket type, then, you can only go up to 3700+ (I checked on NewEgg)

You are correct... But that CPU may only be supported by the latest BIOS revision...

I recently updated to the F.34 BIOS and I think that is the most current.

Hey I just flashed my bios on R4000. but that was versiopn 14 something. WHere did u get that from.IS it different for R3000 due to a different socket?

I downloaded the BIOS update off HP's website. I think the R4000 is based on socket 939.

There is a F.35 BIOS update for the R3000Z on the HP website, I just looked today.

Could someone please give me an instruction guide on how to change processors in the R3000Z. Has anyone ever upgraded there processor in an R3000Z and if so how hard was it? Thanks.

Not yet. I will post on here when I do and tell you how it went.



P.S. I didn't win the Bytecc laptop cooler. I ordered the new Vantec Lapcool3 from newegg.com for $19.99. I will tell you how good it is once I get it.
