will dell never use xbrite screens?

i like the glossiness of the sony laptops on their screens. xbrite is it called?

what do you guys prefer? the dell nonglossy or the glossy types of other notebook companies?

i wonder if dell will ever offer it.

Dell does offer it on some of their laptops. Its called "trulife", I know the 700m has it and I beleive the 9300 and XPS Gen2 have them, not sure about others.

yup..my 700m has it and honestly i think it is great..very high quality if you ask me.

thanks! i see that now on the website.

whenever i come home from best buy and look at my dell 8600 screen, it just feels lifeless and dead compared to trulife and xbrite.

kinda like coming home to wifey after going to a bikini car wash.

Love the trulife on my 700m. Makes it alot more like looking at a high quality CRT. I've never been a big fan of LCD screens but the high gloss screen treatment really makes a big improvement IMO.

from what I've read... Trulife is NOT as good as XBrite is... it is, however, an improvement over the "regular" screens

I have the "truelife" on my XPS2. It looks awesome. the colors are great and the glare isnt bad at all. I dont know why everyone thinks these screens are so bad, I'm dang picky about how my screen looks and I love the truelife lcd.

Does anyone know what the technology actually is? Sonys xbrite seems to remove pixelation in curves as well, which is awesome.

But one thing I've noticed with everyones glossy screen technology, no one, NO ONE, uses it for anything high-res.

Just Sony and just Dell on the XPS systems. My guess is that it must be prohibitively expensive for WXSGA+ and WUXGA.

And it's a wonder Apple hasn't touched this technology.

My i6000 has the ultrasharp which I find to be an outstanding screen.

So two thought from me:

- I would rather have high-res over gloss. High-res, high-gloss screens from Sony are at least 2 grand like Dell's offering.

- High-gloss screens suffer from a lot of reflections.

i think my dell 700m looks better than my sisters sony t series laptop....the white on my computer is better than hers
