Video card loose on Presario X1000 - Page 2

It wont last.(IMO). The fact the card is trying to rise on the left when its seated is an indication the card is in fact warped. New ones will seat and sit properly when installed. Cant lose by trying however and I have a boxful of trashed cards here from replacements that I'm going to take to the Hotair rework and try to straighten out and refurb. with the stabilization plate to see if these can be depended on down the road.

ikenfixit is there any luck with HP in saying that there is a problem. If it will help i could o file a complaint with the BBB about this, because i think this is BS, when I called them and explained what this tech in tampa, FL said about that model and the graphic card the tech on the phone was laughing saying that thats not true. It really pissing me off cause i spent really good money for a laptop for it to screw up a couple of months after the warrenty expired. Sorry for the rant just would do anything to help get this problem fix

These asswipes are fully aware of this issue and I'll never understand what the hangup is to admitting to a known problem.. (Otherwise why the sudden glueing of the integrated graphics chip)?? You are chasing your tail but I am going to start a list of consumers having this "Known" Problem and get a petition rolling.. Another known issue These fellows are having are the New power hog 15.4 and 17" widescreen ZX,ZV, ZD and twin compaqs. The DC jacks are failing on every one due to the inability to handle the heat from an insufficient lead size.. Think they will admit to this issue? Noper.. They call it abuse. I designed a sandwich plate for the X1000 video card issues and designe a DC jack that will eliminate problems for All laptops. Now all I need is investors.. HP IF YOU READ THIS? HAVE FUN!!

I've given up fixing the x1000. It is both a waste of time and money. I feel that HP/Compaq has lied to me and cheated me on my laptop besides the video card issue. They put a 4200 RPM HD, when clearly, my invoice stated that I should be getting a 5400 RPM HD. They won't admit it's their fault. They claim it's a build to order, when I have the exact specifications and everything. So I just bought a new laptop. If anyone needs parts! Let me know. I have a x1040us. Everything works perfectly fine except the video card. I am willing to sell parts for CHEAP! I just wanna get rid of this crappy and expensive POS. Thanks!

Not that im trying to defend HP or anything but its possible that they were unaware of the design problems. If they didnt know its unlikely you will ever get retribution ever.

Also i recommend putting the x1000 for sale in the "For Sale/Wanted" thread. Im sure someone will want it... Things like, Optical drives, screens, cpu's, memory, hard drives, etc are compatible with other machines...

My X1000 has quit working after a little less than 3 years. Same as problem described above.
