This notebooks will sell out within days!

For what you get, OS, Software and features + chassi and portable package. You cant be the price. No matter how you turn it, it's a good package. About what I payed for my fully loaded Sager 4750.

There will also be a lower version w/ Turion 64 ML30, 512MB RAM, Non-glossy screen etc.

( If I could have waited long enough, this is what I would have got... Anyway, it's officially here now! maybe I'll get this instead of the MSI S270, it really shouldn't be a question between those two )

How about people that would enjoy a fast portable 64-bit compatible quallity performance really good looking future ready feature/all-around complete system from a reputable vendor?

People that do not want to be stuck behind in the old Winodws/Linux world.
Like the feeling you would get if you could only run up to Windows 98 today with older software at that.

People that intend to keep their notebook for more than 6 to 12 months.

People that want be able to run the most modern/next gen. Operatingsystems, hardware peripherals, drivers, games, programs.

People that do not like Dell'ish brands (that don't offer anything to compare to the Ferrari 4000 so they are out of the question anyway!), like me.

People that want to be able to use their notebook, like a notebook, not only a DTR!

Hmmm, good point, the Ferrari Looks nice, but then I see the name ACER before and I think back in the day when I sold those hunk o junks...

Personally if I was getting a portable good machine i'd get a Asus or ALienware with 15.4 inch screen.

Impressive specs. Although, I would have liked something that harkens as much to the ferrari aesthetic as it does to the ferrari performance.

Still can't top the ASUS V6 in terms of looks

i just had my dad order mine today (graduation gift, yay for me), i love how i can tell my friends i'm getting a ferrari and be (partially) serious.

$2150 from zipzoomfly, no tax, free shipping. hopefully i'll get it in a couple days.

i got $4000 for my graduation
waita sec... the SXGA screen is GLOSSY? Crystal-bright means glossy in my understanding, but I thought the higher resolution display would be matte finish. If this is true however, I'm sold

I didn't even get a graduation gift.

How can they call it a Ferrari, when a dang 9300 can smoke it thats what makes me scratch my head, its not a performance machine just another laptop that look pertty!

That looks really REALLY sweet!! A couple of questions though:

1) Does the weight (2.86kg) INCLUDE the battery? I'm sure it probably doesn't take into account the power brick, but what about the battery?

2) This is probably a silly question, but is this (the Acer Ferrari 4000) the BEST Turion laptop out now? I see other Turion machines listed on the AMDBoard site showing machines with the x700 GPU, but their specs are not quite as sweet as those of the Ferrari. So.. is the Acer Ferrari 4000 the best Turion-based notebook available as of today (June 22, 2005 )

According to a FAQ I read CrystalBright, BrightView, SuperGlare, etc, etc, it's all the same thing... Glossy. It's just that every notebook vendor has it's own name for it. Except for Sager, they simply call it Glossy lol! Sure you can tweak it with anti glare filters and diffrent viewing angles etc, but still it's basicly the same thing.

The F4000 in its current configuration won't be the best that it could be. But if you instead replace the stock DDR333 RAM with 1GB of DDR400, then it would be a better machine than even the DTR 4750, for a couple reasons:

1. RAM running at 200Mhz instead of 166Mhz
2. GPU is about twice as powerful (X700 vs MR9700)

is this not OLD news?

the links given are out weeks and the ferrari was officially launched weeks ago. plus, ive still to see where acer say the ferrari has crystalbrite. of the few reviews so far, none of them mention crystalbrite.

Well the 9300 is much larger than a ferrari, think of it this way

Ferrari =Ferrari (small, lighter weight powerful machine)

9300 = Semi Truck (large, extremely powerful)

The Semi in fact has much more power(read torque) than the Ferrari will ever have, but the Ferrari is so much better looking. You may sacrafice some power in terms of numbers, but in the end you will be able to get around better (read more portible)

Now what do you want to carry around, a Semi? or a Ferrari?
