Acer finaly announces Ferrari 4000! Can get it for $1,996.90! - Page 2

Question, in the last couple of weeks I read here and there that there will be 2 models, a fast one and a more economical version that will be priced cheaper.

If that is true, which one is this, the faster or slower sibling.

The released version - Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi - is the high-end version. There should be another version, but don't know when.
Cheers.

PS: Many of your questions can be answered in the Acer section of this fourm.

So does the current version (Ferrari 4000 w/ ML-37 processor) have Crystalbrite??????

I guess we'll definitely find out when people start receiving them

How can they call it a Ferrari, when a dang 9300 can smoke it thats what makes me scratch my head, its not a performance machine just another laptop that look pertty!
Now it seams as you need it put simple or more basic.

The 9300 is a truck. It is a truck that is stuck, forever, at 32 bit roads only. A Ferrari 4000, is all in one complete vehicle that you can take anywhere, and use anywhere.

Maybe now you understand that the 9300 and Ferrari 4000 is not the same class of notebooks. They are not comparable. A Ferrari 4000 is for someone that wants the best complete package of all aspects. A 9300 is a notebook that is just fine for what it is built for, high 3DMark score. If I would game alot I would still get the Ferrari 4000 over the 9300 since I do more than just gaming which the Ferrari 4000 handles better then most 15"4 inch notebooks.

This review:

and the early sightings here say it doesn't have a glossy screen. There was a post saying it had what seemed to be the same kind of screen as an Asus Z70V, complete with sparklies.

that looks a lot like what the ASUS Z70V is going to be at the end of august (minus the AMD part lol)

I've just got my Ferrari 4005, it doesn't have Crystalbrite. Supposedly the lower end version will come with Crystalbrite. I have no idea why Acer would do that?

Because all glossy screens suck. Companies just throw on the Glossy crap just to let the peeps who buy crappy systems to feel good that they have a "nice glossy screen". I prefer a matte screens myself- I have no need to see myself or any other objects reflecting through my screen.

This Acer laptop is so much nicer than the other one though. I thought that bright red was pretty nasty.

i agree, a friend of mine has the glossy screen and i don't like seeing stuff reflected

The reason Acer would do that, is because they consider a non-glossy, higher resolution (wsxga) screen to be more preferable than lower resolution (wxga) glossy screen. I don't know why no manufacturers offer high res AND glossy screens in the 15.4" size, but they don't as of yet. The Acer 8100 doesn't have the glossy option at all, just the wsxga non-glossy. I personally would prefer a glossy screen over a non-glossy high res one.
