Linux and Smart Link 56K Voice Modem on 8880

Thread Starter
I have a sager 8880 with Smart Link 56K Voice Modem.

I’m trying to get Knoppix ( a bootable Linux Distro ) to log onto the internet.

I’m a Newbie to Linux and am lost about what I need to do to get online with Knoppix.

I downloaded the Linux drivers from http://www.smlink.com/content.aspx?id=132

I have no idea which driver to use or if I even have the right one that will support the Smart Link 56K Voice Modem on my 8880.
.

If anyone is a Linux Guru: Can you tell me if I can save the drivers straight to the ‘Live Knoppix 3.9 CD’ and somehow write a file path to tell Knoppix to look there and use that drive to connect the modem to my ISP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is this the bootable Live CD version rather than the installable DVD/CD/FTP version?

yes this is the bootable CD.. Knoppix 3.9 but i've seen posts saying it could be installed on the hard drive. I'm not ready to try that yet though
